Scott Orn, Lighthouse Capital on Venture Debt

Video interview with Scott Orn Partner Lighthouse Capital Partners. Scott is responsible for identifying information technology investment opportunities, performing due diligence, negotiating and monitoring west coast investments. Scott returned to Lighthouse in 2008 as a Senior Associate after completing his MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. While at Kellogg, Scott interned in R&D Strategy at Becton Dickinson. Scott previously worked as an Associate at Lighthouse from 2002 to 2005, prior to leaving for his MBA. From 1999 to 2002, Scott was an Analyst in mergers and acquisitions at Hambrecht & Quist, (later JPMorgan H&Q). While at Lighthouse, Scott has sponsored investments in the software, internet, IT services, semiconductor and mobile industries. In addition to his MBA from Kellogg, Scott holds a BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Scott is also a CFA Charterholder. Scott is also a Co-founder of Ben’s Friends, a network of online patient support communities for people with rare diseases.

Mary Hodder is a veteran Silicon Valley technologist, most recently founding Wellness Mobile, and prior to that as VP Products at Apisiphere, a geolocation mobile company building an enterprise platform for mobile developers. While at Apisphere, she oversaw development of 12 mobile location products and the platform. Prior to that, she founded Dabble.com, a social search site for web video. Mary has worked with large and small organizations as Product Developer / information architect / interaction designer on search, web, gaming, open source software, photo sharing, blog aggregation, media distribution products. Her research includes creating a 100p survey of current new media research and development for New Media for the American Press Inst. She has been on the board of several mission-related organizations including Attention Trust and One Web Day. She blogs at Napsterization and was an original author at bIPlog (the first UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism blog, on intellectual property, security and privacy), has a Masters from School of Information at UCB, 2004 and a BA from Sarah Lawrence College. As a business and litigation consultant, Jennifer worked with numerous companies in the consumer products, retail, technology, energy, telecommunications and insurance industries. Jennifer’s cases included product recall, product liability, intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, and antitrust matters. Jennifer graduated with Honors and as a Community Fellow from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business where, in addition to her MBA, she earned certificates in Entrepreneurship and in Management of Technology (MOT) – a joint curriculum program with the College of Engineering. Jennifer completed her BA early, in three years at UC Berkeley (cum laude) with degrees in Economics and Japanese.
